Elliott Freeman's Walk-Off Double Gives Baseball a Win Over Penn State-Abington

Box Score Cheltenham, PA (April 23, 2013) - Elliott Freeman hit a two-run game winning double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Arcadia University Knights (21-13-1) a 4-3 win over the Penn State-Abington Nittany Lions. Arcadia trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the eighth, but scored two in the eighth and two in the ninth to win their final non-conference game of the season. Freeman went 4-5 in the game with three RBI.

Penn State Abington scored one in the first, one in the seventh and one in the eighth to take a 3-0 lead. Arcadia had just four hits through the first seven innings. In the bottom of the eighth, Freeman hit an RBI double and Nick Petroski scored an unearned run to make it 3-2. Then in the ninth, the Knights loaded the bases. With two outs Freeman roped a drive into the right center gap that scored Brandon Martin and Patrick Kwiatkowski for the 4-3 win.

Petroski was 2-4 with a run scored. Justin Simpson got the win, pitching the ninth and allowing just two hits.

Arcadia will play their final series of the regular season this weekend against Alvernia. The Knights will host Alvernia for game one of the series on Friday at 3:30pm.
