Ann Franklin-Smith was a four-year starting pitcher in softball, goalie in field hockey, and served as captain of both teams. Playing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II, she earned the Individual Sports Award all four years, and was named the Player of the Year in 1986 and 1987, and was selected to the All-Star-Team for three years. She received the Beaver College Award for Best Female Athlete in the Class of 1987. A career highlight was participating in the 1985 NAIA National Championship Tournament.
