A four-year member of the Arcadia University men's soccer program, Wimsey was the second player to be named an All-American by the United Soccer Coaches when he was Second Team in 2005. Wimsey was named First Team All-Region in 2004 and 2005, and First Team All-PAC in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Wimsey helped lead the team to PAC Championships in 2002 and 2004 as well as an Elite 8 appearance in 2002. That 2002 men's soccer team was inducted into the Hall of Fame with the class of 2012. Wimsey was named to the Men's Soccer 25th Anniversary Team by the PAC.
 
For his career, Wimsey ranks first in penalty kicks made with eight, first in games played with 86, sixth in points with 67, fifth in goals with 29, and tied for second in game-winning goals with nine. Wimsey holds the single-season record for penalty kicks made with six in 2003, ranks second in game-winning goals with four in both 2003 and 2005, ninth in single-season goals with 12 in 2003, and tied for ninth in points with 29 in 2003.
 
Wimsey, who played professionally for the Philadelphia KiXX after graduation, earned his Bachelor's degree in History in 2014 after finishing his playing career in 2006.
