Arcadia University Athletic Hall of Fame
Brian Thompson was the first NAIA District 19 Basketball Player to be National Player of the Week. He was also the first men’s Basketball player from Arcadia to be named Honorable Mention All-American.
Brian led the nation in scoring in NAIA Division III with 33 points per game. He scored more than 2,500 career points. His milestones included scoring 60 points in a single game, including 19 assists in a single game and 10 3-point field goals in a game. His season-high was 804 points. Brian received the Herb Good Award as the Outstanding Small College Basketball Player in the Philadelphia area (chosen by the Philadelphia area Sportswriters).
After graduating from college, Brian played one season of basketball with the Washington Generals, traveling with the Harlem Globetrotters and delighting crowds across the country and around the world. His venues included Japan, Korea and Hawaii. Brian also played one season with the Meadowlarks, shooting hoops in California, Arizona and Mexico.
