Betty Jean Duffy was an outstanding athlete and coach, playing field hockey, basketball and lacrosse, serving as captain of both field hockey and lacrosse, and coaching and officiating after graduation. She was an All-American reserve in lacrosse and played for Philadelphia in Field Hockey in international competition. As the field hockey coach at Bucks County Community College, she led her teams to back-to-back national championships.
