Barbara Heylmun Longstreth was a year-round student-athlete and contributor to the life of the college.  

She was Captain of the Field Hockey, Basketball, and Lacrosse teams her senior year.  Barbara was named to first U.S. Women's Lacrosse Team as a college sophomore.  In 1958, she toured Great Britain and Ireland with the U.S. team.  Her position was first home, where she ably defended her nation’s team. 

During her playing career, Barbara was selected to play on 11 U.S. Lacrosse teams. In 1998, she was named to United States Lacrosse Hall of Fame “in recognition of her sportsmanship, integrity, character and contributions to the sport of lacrosse as exemplified in intercollegiate competition.” She also was named to two U.S. Field Hockey Teams and was on the U.S. Touring Team to Great Britain and Denmark in 1962, playing halfback
